We all know the importance of keeping our pet’s nails trimmed, but sometimes life makes it challenging to ensure this happens regularly. Getting out to have this vital task completed can be a significant challenge if you are trying to juggle a young family and your spouse is deployed. One innovative Ottawa Valley woman has helped solve this problem in a cost-effective and simple way: she’ll come to you!
We were so delighted to have found her and used her services we wanted to feature her on this website so others can benefit as well. We reached out to her to learn a bit more about her and how she came to offer such a niche – and in-demand – service via Nails By Bails.
Background
Who Is “Bails”?
Bailey Rogers is one of those exceptionally talented individuals who are wise beyond their years. While she began working professionally with pets as a kennel staff and groomer in a traditional facility gaining experience and knowledge, she saw a need in the community with two types of pet owners: (1) pet owners who are ageing with mobility issues that may not be able to drive but have adored, loving animal companions, and (2) young professionals who are busy juggling their family and their careers. These pet owners care about their furry family members but do not have the time or ability to take them for grooming sessions each month. So Nails By Bails was born as a mobile business to alleviate that stress by going to these owners’ homes for nail clipping services. Once she began, she found a third category in the Petawawa area – military families juggling the challenges of young families and spouses who are deployed.
Services
The concept is simple: in-home nail trimming services. While most people think of dog nails being trimmed, Bailey knows that this service is important for other animals as well; cats, bunnies and Guinea pigs also benefit from Nails By Bails gentle hands and clipping expertise.
Service Area
Bailey and her mobile service cover a lot of ground: from Mississippi Mills to West Carleton, The Pontiac, Petawawa and Pembroke and a small area of Ottawa, her mobile nail service covers County of Renfrew in its entirety. Working on a four-week rotation, she services each area on a specific day and works tirelessly to accommodate her clients’ availability. Her rough schedule is as follows:
What’s Next for Bailey?
Recently, Bailey competed for and received the Starter Company Program grant, available through Enterprise Renfrew County. This program awards Ontario entrepreneurs aged 18-29, who are not attending school full time, funding up to $5,000 to start their new business. They also offer invaluable one-on-one guidance of a local business mentor and access to on-line business training and workshops. It is a tremendous amount of work and commitment to complete the training sessions and create a full Business Plan, then pitch the business plan to a panel in hopes of approval. Bailey not only did all of this, but she did it in just two short months.
With the assistance of the Starter Company Grant, Bailey has been able to open her own grooming shop in Horton Township, right on the border of the town of Renfrew. This newly opened shop has not had an official grand opening so keep an eye on her Facebook Page for more announcements about that big day!

Balance & The Future
Being able to begin 2020 as a full-time, self-employed, under-30 female entrepreneur has been an amazing accomplishment that Bailey is so understandably proud of.
Nails By Bails has grown steadily since it first began about a year ago and the solid business foundation she has built shows with her wonderful roster of clientele and their constant referrals of her services. It’s pretty impressive how much her business has grown strictly by word of mouth and referrals from her clients!
Despite constantly being on the go, Bailey also makes sure to take the time to enjoy the activities she loves with the people who matter most to her. This smart, successful young woman knows the importance of balancing a successful business with being a happy, healthy individual business owner.
“At this time I am still growing and looking
for new clients in all the locations I service. I anticipate bumps ahead followed by exciting triumphs… “ – Bailey Rogers
